Court Piece : Rung Play 1.6

Court Piece, also known as Coat Piece or Coat Pees, is a traditional card game that originated in South Asia. The game, sometimes referred to as Rang or Rung, involves four players in fixed partnerships sitting opposite each other. Deal and play progress in an anticlockwise manner using a standard international deck of cards. The objective is for a team to score courts (coats or kots) by winning the majority of the thirteen tricks played.

The game begins with a random selection of the first dealer, after which the dealer will always be a member of the team that lost the previous deal. The dealer shuffles, and the player to the dealer's right, known as the "trump-caller," cuts the deck. Each player receives a batch of five cards, with the trump-caller selecting and announcing the trump suit. Additional cards are dealt to each player until they have 13 cards each.

Players take turns playing cards to win tricks, following suit if possible but having the option to play any card if unable to follow suit. The player with the highest-ranking card of the led suit wins the trick unless a trump card is played, in which case the highest trump wins. Tricks won are displayed face down in front of the winning team to track progress.

A team that wins at least seven tricks wins the deal, aiming to score courts and eventually achieve a goon court by winning all thirteen tricks. This strategic variation is known as a 52-court or bavney.
